Talk To The Unknown!

Talk To The Unknown

Talk to strangers, to the people you have no idea who they are. Why is this related to my blog site and why is it important? Well believe me or not, That Anna Girl below me is my GIRLFRIEND! Crazy huh, how in the world did I end up with a girl who works at a radio station. Well, It all happen at a conference here in Chicago about two years ago. I was currently living in Indiana and got accepted to attend to the National Hispanic Leadership Conference held at the Sheraton Hotel. I was on my way to my hotel room, when I stumbled upon Anna playing piano. Wow she had skills! I told her how I was moving to Chicago that summer and needed a friend. I WAS NOT BEING A FLIRT. I actually needed someone who could help me get to school, work, and well learn how to take the CTA. She said "Sure!". Then we talked about our majors, and it happen to be she goes to Vandercook College of Music. A music teacher in the making! Because of her attending to that school, I have collaborated with many talented musicians. In fact, an up coming interview for my blog site, I get to meet a former student of her school and interview him. And let's just say he is a DJ performing at THE HOUSE OF BLUES!!! So this dude, that Anna had me meet, is kind of a big deal. All because of my wonderful friend and girlfriend Anna. So network as much as possible, meet new people. You never know who you will meet and who you will end up meeting!

Where am I going?? What is next??

So as we all can tell we are in week 6! WEEK 6!!!! That means we are more than halfway with this blog. So there is only one question on my mind...Am I going to keep going with this?? Although I only had posted two interview videos and working on my 3rd video edit, do I really want to keep going with this?? YES! I have huge line up coming up within the next weeks! I have a interviewed someone who works for a radio station, the voice auditions is this week, I am interviewing another band called Versus The Victor, a DJ who is performing at the House of Blues called Taylor Page, and also an all girl show group! As we can tell there is a variety of talent coming up! But the down side of this, I have to travel a butt load. Not all these talents are in Chicago, some are in the suburbs of Chicago. So I have to pack up my laptop, a tri-pod, my notes and not to mention my camera. It is a lot on my shoulders. Plus with this weather, well it is not helping. So maybe after this quarter, I will keep going with this, but be more peaking with the talent and not just pick anyone who is performing. I don''t want to fall behind in my other classes. But along the way I have learned a lot of great stuff and I hope you guys have seen some improvements in my editing and interviewing. I really would want to take this as far as it can go. Hopefully some band or artist might like my work and I could work with them and tour!!! That would be another dream come true. So as for now, I gotta pack up my stuff and hit the shows for more interviews! Thanks Everyone!!

The Different Artist

Now for the past months I have dealt with all kinds of different talents.
Some are merely even famous, and some had good amount of fans.
What I have claim to notice, when I interview them for this blog page,
was that each of them have their differences and something in common.
First, must musicians started of really young. Let's compare with my friend
Zach Porlier with the lead singer of Spence.
Zach Porlier, if you can remember from the video, started off at a young age.
His father was what got Zach into music. They would listen to music as a family
pass time. As for Daniel, lead singer and guitar player for Spence, he grow up
listening to Smashing Pumpkins and Greed Day also at a very young age. What makes them
difference is pretty interesting. Daniel has played all over this nation is at currently
at tour. Getting to interview him was a lot different from Zach. Here is how. First, Daniel
was tough to get a one in one time with him. Mainly because he would hang out
with his fans as a musician should do to keep their fan base connected.
So, after the show, it literately took me about an hour just to be able to have
one on one time with him. I was patiently waiting, because I knew he didn't mean
no bad intentions, just keep the fans partying! With Zach on the other hand, I was able to
have one-on-one time with him immediately after the show. With Zach, there was also a handful
of fans, but not as much as Daniel from Spence. Maybe because Zach was a local musician
and at this moment you can catch Zach the next day as for Daniel, he would be gone the next
morning. When I interview Zach, I would admit, it felt intimidated. Probably because that
interview was one of his first interviews. As for Daniel, he was more open and more
personal and felt comfortable during the interview. After all Daniel has gotten plenty of
interviews so he is used to it. One last thing I have notice is that there answers to "What is next"
is different from Zach(a local talent) than Spence(a touring band). With Spence, his answers was more
detail. Such as "We have a show here and there and our next tour starts this and that and during this
time our album drops". As to Zach, he was more "Hopefully being able to do something with music. Hopefully
not working with whole foods, even though I can't complain.
Alaska will drop in album soon and maybe get a tour going". As you can see Daniel's band, Spence,
was more sure on what is next than Zach.
Although I have learned a lot from those two musicians, I can completely agree that both
are one of a kind musicians and super talented!
